12 pm | Publication Studio Hudson | Maine-based artists Douglas W. Milliken and Scott Sell present a combined reading and musical event, reading and performing from the book/album collaboration In the Mines published this fall by Publication Studio Hudson.
1 pm | Zinemaking Workshop with Lily Xie of MOON EATERS
Come hear about the Boston self-published zine community and learn how to fold and assemble your own zine to take home.
2 pm | Book Binding Workshop with harlequin creature
Meghan Forbes of harlequin creature (a 501(c)3 not-for-profit small press imprint, based in New York) will offer a book binding workshop, appropriate for all levels and ages (small children should be accompanied by an adult). Participants will learn to make a three-hole pamphlet stitch book, which involve some measuring, folding and simple sewing. The book can be decorated on the spot to create a final product, or can be used as a notebook to be filled in later. All materials will be provided.
3–5 pm | Demo Radio | Live radio broadcast oscillating between music and conversation, organized by Cierra Michele Peters
Demo Radio is a social research project dedicated to archiving subcultures, and is organized by Cierra Michele Peters, Delande Justinvil, Johan Urrea, Simon Remiszewski and Tameka Eastman-Coburn.
At Boston Art Book Fair 2018, Demo Radio presents a two hour live broadcast featuring music and a roundtable style discussion on radical self organizing, cultural democracy, social change and community. Throughout the broadcast, Demo Radio creates a space for active dialogue between the live audience and a panel of practitioners who have expanded the possibilities for self-run arts organizations and collectives. The broadcast will be recorded and preserved in Demo Radio’s online archive through SoundCloud and their website.
